The purpose of the store is twofold: one to provide work for individuals with disabilities and secondly as economic development for the for the city of Lisbon. Future plans include continued growth in the Lisbon community.

The ODC Lisbon Thrift Store was opened in September 2008 with assistance of grants from the North Dakota State Council on Developmental Disabilities. In 2017, The ODC Thrift Store and day program was able to build a new 10,400 sq. ft. store and day program center south of Lisbon with the support from the Otto Bremer Foundation.

The Thrift Store is run by donations of clothing, furniture, books, toys and household items.
